2007 TOUR

This was the very first Anzac tour by Collie SHS students.
There was no blog for this tour, however some information about the tour is below.

From the "Collie Mail" Friday October 26, 2007.

"Earlier this year, he took the history class on a trip to Gallipoli for the ANZAC Day dawn service. They also toured parts of Europe, including France and Belgium.
The trip came about following some negative portrayals of Collie youth in the media, following the death of local student Eliza Jane Davis.
Eliza was in Ed's year 11 history class last year.
When the class went to Country Week, they told Ed about the negative view other schools had of Collie students, so Ed asked them what they were going to do about it.
Eventually they came up with the idea of the trip to Gallipoli, which the class was studying at the time.
They had been looking at Australia's involvement in World War One and the gruesome events that took place.
The students began to organise the finer details of the trip, but it was ultimately up to Ed to turn the idea into a reality.
There was a lot of red tape for Ed to get through and he had to fill out documents, the size of a book, to get approval from the Minister for Education and Training for an overseas trip.
Ed said the best thing about the trip was seeing the class come together as a group and work hard to achieve their goal.
He said there was a lot of parent and teacher help that went in to make the trip happen, but the students all showed they could do what they set out to do.
The class finished their school year this week and Ed is now planning to make the Gallipoli trip an experience for history students every second year."
